PedalMash is a personal project built and run by one person, provided as-is. There is no company behind it. By using it you agree to these terms, which are written plainly on purpose.
Last updated: August 2026.
Ride safety and assumption of risk
Do not use PedalMash while riding. Review your rides after you finish.
PedalMash takes no part in your ride. It does not record, track, navigate, or coach you. It is not running and not with you — it reads a ride only after that ride is over, so nothing it does can change what happens on the trail.
The risk belongs to the ride, not the app. Cycling carries a real risk of serious injury or death, and when you ride you knowingly and willingly accept it: falling; hitting another rider, walker, animal, vehicle, or obstacle; surface and terrain; weather; mechanical failure; someone else’s mistake; and your own limits.
Sector times record what you already rode — they are not a target to chase. Nothing PedalMash shows you is a reason to take a risk you would not otherwise take, least of all on a descent. You are solely responsible for how you ride. Ride within your ability and your sight lines, and follow local trail rules.
You agree not to sue over your riding, or over this app. To the fullest extent the law allows, you will not bring a claim against PedalMash, or against anyone who builds or runs it, for injury, death, or loss arising out of your cycling, out of your use of PedalMash, or out of any decision you made after seeing something it showed you. That includes a claim of negligence, and a claim that the app itself was at fault in how it was designed, built, or described.
PedalMash is not a medical device. It shows heart rate as your recorder measured it. Nothing it displays is medical advice, or fit to diagnose, treat, or judge whether you are well enough to ride.
You must be at least 16 to use PedalMash. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf.
Before showing you any sector time, the app asks you to accept a short safety notice. That acceptance is recorded with the date and the exact wording shown.
What the service does
PedalMash detects climbs, descents, and connecting trails in your rides, then compares your times on the same sectors from one ride to the next.
The only comparison is with your own history. PedalMash does not rank riders against one another and does not show your times to anyone else.
PedalMash is not a fitness tracker. Every ride reaches it after the activity is over — either read from Apple Health with your permission, or shared in as a FIT file, the Flexible and Interoperable Data Transfer format written by recorders such as WorkOutDoors, Wahoo, and Garmin. Your own device or app does the recording. PedalMash imports what it produced and analyzes it afterwards.
Accuracy
Results depend entirely on the data your recording device or app supplies. GPS drift, missing elevation, paused recordings, and gaps in a track all affect what PedalMash can detect and how times compare.
Sector detection is automatic. It improves as more rides cover the same trail, which means a sector’s boundaries may be refined over time and times may be recalculated. Treat results as a training aid, not as an official measurement.
What you are uploading
A ride is precise location data. Uploading one tells PedalMash where you rode, and — if you record from home — where you live. The privacy policy sets out exactly how that is handled and who can see it, which is nobody but you.
Using PedalMash is entirely voluntary. If that trade does not suit you, do not upload the ride.
That data is handled seriously. Rides and reports are encrypted at rest, everything moves over encrypted connections, storage is closed to public access, and every request is authenticated against your own account. The privacy policy sets out the specifics.
It is also worth saying plainly what is not claimed: PedalMash has not been independently security-audited or certified against any standard, and no service can promise it will never be breached.
Your account
You are responsible for the rides you upload and for having the right to upload them. Do not upload activity data that is not yours.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the service, or to reach another rider’s account, rides, or results.
An account that does these things may be suspended or removed.
Beta software
PedalMash is in beta. Features change, and rides may be re-analyzed as sector detection improves — which can adjust times you have already seen.
PedalMash keeps the results of a ride — its analysis, sectors, and times — and re-analyzes from those. The original file you shared in is deleted once processing finishes; it is not retained and cannot be given back to you. PedalMash is not a backup of your ride files. Keep your own copies, as you would with any beta run by one person.
Price and payment
Beta access through TestFlight is free.
If PedalMash is later sold on the App Store, Apple handles the entire transaction. Payment details go to Apple and are never seen or stored by PedalMash. Refunds are requested from Apple, not from the developer — the developer cannot issue them.
Paying for the app does not change the “as-is” terms above, and does not guarantee that the service will run for any particular length of time.
No warranty
PedalMash is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind. There is no guarantee that the service will keep running, that analysis will be accurate, or that your data will always be available. It may change or stop at any time.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any injury, loss, or damage arising from use of the service, including reliance on any time, ranking, or route it displays. You ride at your own risk.
Some things cannot be signed away, and nothing here tries to. Where the law does not allow a limit — gross negligence, deliberate wrongdoing, or death or injury from negligence where that cannot be waived — it does not apply, and the rest of these terms still stand.
Ending your use
You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. We may end your access if you breach these terms.
