Your rides, your progress

Am I improving on this trail? That is the question PedalMash answers, and the only one it sets out to.

It reads a finished ride and works out the shape of it on its own — every climb, every descent, and the trail connecting them.

Ride the same trail eight times and you get eight attempts on one sector, lined up against each other. Not eight unrelated entries to match up yourself.

Descents count as much as climbs here. Most tools measure a ride by its climbing. On a mountain bike that is half the story, and often the less interesting half.

A time here records a ride that already happened, not a target for the next one — so PedalMash asks you to accept a short safety notice before showing you any sector time.

PedalMash for iPhone

Record however you already do. Connect Apple Health once and your latest ride is waiting when you open PedalMash — no file to find, nothing to export.

Older rides, or a recorder that does not reach Apple Health? Share a FIT file in from WorkOutDoors, Wahoo, Garmin, or anything else that writes one.

PedalMash is tuned for mountain bike and off-road rides. Road rides can import, but sector detection is built around trail-style riding, so road results may be less useful.

What you get

  • Your ride, straight away. The card appears as soon as Apple Health hands the workout over — date, distance, and time — with the map and sector times filling in as analysis finishes.
  • Every climb, descent, and connecting trail, found for you. No segments to draw, no start and finish points to place.
  • Your times on each sector, ride after ride — personal best, how this attempt compares, how many times you have ridden it, and how long you spent stopped.
  • A library of your sectors, sorted however you care about: rank, most improved, steepest, longest, most ridden. Favorite the ones you care about, and rename any of them.
  • Route, elevation, speed, and heart rate on one screen, with the charts following your position along the map.

Everything stays yours. Your rides are visible only to you, and nothing is ever published.

One price, no subscription

I built PedalMash because the tools that answer the question of how well I do tend to require a monthly subscription, bundling it with features I never use and change what is included from year to year. I did not want a plan, I simply want metrics on the climbs and descents I ride every week, and to be able to compare those metrics to past performances.

PedalMash is a one-time purchase - no tiers, there is nothing that expires and takes your history with it. Because analyzing a ride is minimal processing, charging rent every month never made sense to me. This app requires running the backend, paying the hosting bill and reading the feedback. There is no motivation here to be acquired, I will not be shutting service down nor implementing growth-target-pushing features you did not ask for… Biking is a passion of mine, this app is a love project offered as-is.

Privacy statement

Your rides stay yours. Routes and reports are visible only to you, and nothing about your rides are sold nor shared with advertisers nor used to track you across other apps.

Be aware of what a recorded ride actually contains: a GPS route is precise location data, so starting in your driveway records where you live. PedalMash shows your routes and times to you and to nobody else — there is no leaderboard, and no way for another rider to look you up.

You can delete a single ride or your whole account from inside the app.

Read the full privacy policy and terms of use.

Your feedback

PedalMash is shaped by riders. If a sector looks wrong, if a ride does not import or something is just simply confusing, send it from Profile → Send feedback within the app. This feedback will allow me to investigate the issue and improve the app - a real answer rather than a guess to your specific needs.
